Jadran Šetlík and Markéta Mátlová

A Harmony of Arias and Portraits Art photographer Jadran Šetlík and outstanding soprano Markéta Mátlová have launched a new combined project called A Harmony of Arias and Portraits. The originality of the project is based on the fact that the concert performances of Markéta Mátlová are complemented by her portraits, always depicting her in the role of the character whose aria is to be heard, for example, in the role of Violetta from La Traviata, or the water nymph from Rusalka.

The singer will also memorably describe the story of the individual character to the audience, who will then hear her soprano voice in a short concert. The artistic interpretation and experience thus very emotively and suggestively enhance the harmony of Jadran’s portraits and Markéta’s powerful performance. The singer symbolically appears to step out of her portrait in various personas, enthralling all those present with the brilliance of her performance.

Singing and photography have one thing in common – they are not limited by borders or language barriers. This new project of Jadran Šetlík and Markéta Mátlová is therefore very malleable, flexible and can be modified in its content as well as its extent.
