When a girl, Sade (her real name is Helen Folasade Adu) was born on the January 16, 1959 in the town of Ibadan, Nigeria, into the family of an African university lecturer in Economics and an English nurse, nobody could have expected that she was predestined to become a fashion icon of the 80s.

Her parents got divorced, after which her mother and the four-year-old child moved to Great Britain. Music became the main interest and passion for the girl. Despite her listening to music all day and night, this girl somehow miraculously managed to study Fashion and Humanistic Studies successfully at St. Martins School of Art in London. She earned some parttime money as a gas station attendant and as a waitress in a bar. As in every romantic story, Fate played a special role.

One day Sade was invited to replace a temporarily absent singer in the Arriva musical group. Her voice was so beautiful and her appearance so striking, that the idea of searching for another vocalist was abandoned. What do we know about her? That she has introduced to the world at least five musical jewels – the songs, Promise, The Sweetest Taboo, Jezebel, The First Time and Is it a Crime? That her musical style remained undefined for a long time, but subsequently and particularly due to her, a new genre was created – Sofisty Pop – sophisticated Pop music for listening and love. That Sade never tried to serve as an example. That she created a life for herself in the way she chose, she was always faithful to herself and never sought a compromise between her principles and her own music. Each of  her albums took on an added quality, as her professional knowledge became increasingly more superior. Sade always stuck to her principles – the minimal means to achieve the maximal effect. “If you have nothing to say, say nothing.”

What do we know about her? That throughout all these years of remaining silent, she has strictly protected her privacy and prefers the company of old friends to a materialistic lifestyle, she likes to drive her old Mercedes and is trying to quit smoking.
