TbilisiGeorgian Restaurant Tbilisi

“Hospitality is a sacred duty” according to an old Georgian proverb.

Georgia – this is a country with an ancient history and unique culture. Georgians are profoundly convinced that human wealth is not measured by the amount of money, but by the number of friends you have. If you do not have the possibility of visiting Georgia, you can get to know Georgian cuisine in the recently opened Tbilisi Restaurant.

A specific feature of Georgian cuisine is the  use of meat and vegetables. Nuts used in the preparation of sauces and confectionery are equally popular.

Many foods in the Georgian national cuisine are intended for cooking over an open fire with the use of a special fire and spits. Traditionally, also stone and clay cookware is used.

Georgian cuisine is not possible without a variety of sauces, which fundamentally differ from other sauces in their composition and preparation process. Herbal ingredients – the sour juice of fruit and berries, purée from pomegranate or tomato – are always used as a basis for the sauces. Grated garlic may also not be absent.

Georgia, like Georgian cuisine, is traditionally associated with wine. A study by European researchers confirms the penetration of the winegrowing culture into Europe from the territory of Georgia. Therefore, it can be assumed that Georgia is the oldest wine-growing country. Georgian wines are of varying quality, but the best of them certainly cannot be replaced by wines from other countries. The most famous variety is Saperavi, one of the oldest vineyards. The most famous brands of Georgian wines are “Khvanchkara”, “Saperavi”, “Kindzmarauli”, “Manavi”, “Ojaleshi”, “Tsolikauri”, “Mukuzani” and “Gurjaani”.
