The amazing and popular place in the North of Caucasus – Lake Kezenoy-Am – welcomes professional sailors and crews from all over the world. The international regatta will be held on the highest mountain lake on July 23–28, 2019. The venue is the unique and beautiful Lake Kezenoy-Am, 1 870 meters above sea level. Top, experienced sailors and professional crews are going to take part in races of Kezenoy-Am Cup 2019. The Alpine lake is one of the top attractions in the North of Caucasus.

“We are happy to state that sailing competitions are considered to be a tradition in Chechnya. Kezenoy-Am Cup will welcome sailing fans and a huge number of tourists from around the world this year, once again,” reported Muslim Baitaziev the head of Chechen Republic Ministry of Tourism.

The prize fund of the regatta is 16 000 EUR. The winners will be awarded with the Kezenoy-Am Challenge Cup that is passed to the new champion each year. A special prize has been prepared by the partner Hamilton, a well-known, respectful international watch brand. The model is Khaki Navy Frogman with nautical functional characteristics in combination with navy style.

“Four racing days and a variety of shore activities are organized for international participants and guests. Cultural programs include excursions, a national dance show and history and culture of Chechnya. The international racing committee is invited to judge the competitions,” said Khasan Khadzhiev, the president of the Sailing Federation of the Chechen Republic.

Luca Babini (Italy), who is a qualified international umpire with outstanding experience in the America’s Cup and 2012 Olympic Games, has been invited to judge the races as the head of the international jury.

More than 20 crews will compete in the Kezeniy-Am Cup 2019. Top well-known sailors have already confirmed their attendance. Robin Zinkman, the participant from Germany known as a crew of the Volvo Ocean Race Team, who navigate the Rolex Fastnet Race with Team Brunel. He crossed the Atlantic and is the winner of various European regattas. One more professional sailor and legend, Italian athlete Roberto Benamati, the world champion and participant of the Olympic Games, is now successfully sailing in Star class and comes to Kezenoy-Am.

The famous Estonian sailor Deniss Karpak was a participant of several Olympic Games and 4-time Estonian champion in Finn class. For 8 years in a row he got the title “The Sailor of the Year” in Estonia will sail in the international regatta.

Kazenoy-Am Cup 2019 is organized by the Ministry of Tourism of the Chechen Republic and the Chechen Sailing Federation.

One more remarkable sailing event will take place on Grozny Sea this summer. Children’s regatta in Optimist sailboats. The North Caucasus Cup is in honor of the first president of the Chechen Republic and Hero of Russia Akhmad Kadyrov. About 60 kids will gather to race on June 26–30, 2019.

A Water Sport Festival will be held at the same time. Different kinds of water sport activities will be represented at the one venue. The festival will include meetings with world champions and participants of Olympics and master-classes. There will be demonstration of sports equipment and lectures about sport and healthy lifestyles. There will also be a photo exhibition, national dance show and concerts.

Participants and guests of the Water Sports Festival will have a chance to go sightseeing in Grozny city and explore its culture. The capital of the Chechen Republic will welcome guests with flower lined streets, cultural and historical places and modern architecture of the city.

Sailing is relatively new in Chechnya and now it is being successfully developed by the Head of the Chechen Republic, Hero of Russia Ramzan Kadyrov.
